I am a family oriented person. I have been married for almost eleven years. My husband is Active Duty USAF and has been enlisted for 10 years. I have two wonderful children and everything that I do is to make their life better! My husband was recently deployed - over the holidays - to Guam. For 6 months, we ran two households. Because the per diem in Guam is less $5 a day, the expenses were not friendly to the budget we had established. While he was gone, I had to replace the tires on my car, get an EPR valve put in and have our furnace looked at. I was forced to make a choice between student loans, mortgage, and house and car repairs. Some of these things could be put off - if you have ever spent a winter in the cold Midwest, you understand the importance of reliable transportation and a warm house. So, I was forced to put my student loan payments on the back burner for a couple of months. I am currently making my payments every month again, however, I am still two months behind with my student loans. Now, I have just received a $500 dental bill for my son. I have over a $1000 in expenses that need immediate attention so that they do not adversely affect my credit report. My husband and I are homeowners. We purchased our home two years ago, so we do not have a lot of equity built up at this time. We got into a bit of credit card trouble in the early years of our marriage due to too little money and too much pride. We realized the error of our ways, and we entered a debt consolidation plan before the payments were behind. Unfortunately, the balances were high and therefore our debt to income ratio has suffered. We have been under our debt consolidation plan for 5 years now and make every payment each month. I am coming to you all for help because although we could lower our monthly debt consolidation payment, we are determined to have a debt free life as soon as possible. At this time, I need a little ?push? to get over this financial hurdle. Below is an outline of our monthly household finances:
INCOME: $5310
MORTGAGE: 1258
UTILITIES: 775.00
CONSOLIDATION: 1185
DAYCARE: 400
GROCERIES: 500
INSURANCE: 100
GAS: 100
TOTAL EXPENSE: $4368
DISPOSABLE INCOME: $992
Student Loan payments $540.24
Dental Bill: $520

We try to be very frugal with our money. My husband and I both have older (5 years +) vehicles that are paid for. Very rarely, do we even eat out. We worked different schedules, so we are often passing in the morning so anytime we have free, we spend with the children at home or at their activities. We have learned to economize on many levels I grew up with next nothing and I want more for my children. Sometimes, I find myself easing towards the ?instant gratification? mode, but I realize that the best way out of debt is to wait! I submitted a request before but withdrew it.  I realized that I was asking for what I wanted and not what I needed.  With this loan of $2250, I could get my finances back on track and put a bit into savings, to prevent an emergency crush like I experienced over Christmas. As you can see from my profile, I started a request before, but I realized that I was not asking for what I needed, I was asking for what I wanted and that just seemed greedy. My mother has always told me that God will not put more on you than you can handle and I know that I will get through this. I am more than happy to answer any other questions or provide further details. Thank you for all of your help!
