I started raising Lionhead rabbits as a hobby since I am disabled and needed something I could do physically to keep my busy and had been trying to find something to do at home to make extra money.  I started with one buck and one doe and soon added 3 more does and 1 more buck since the litters sold VERY quickly.
With 4 does and 2 bucks (5 litters) in the last 6 months I made $1275.00 from selling the kits.    My expenses for the past 6 months were:
Rabbit food                   $70.00
My portion of utilities       60.00
Vet/medications              12.00
Advertising                      28.00
Travel to shows/delivery 50.00
Phone                             13.00
Total expenses              233.00
My profit for the 6 months was  $1052.00.
By adding heat and air I can breed year round with out the complications the weather makes.  And by adding 8 more does an 4 more bucks I can increase the number of litters as well as the quality of my litters therefore increase my profit to at least $5,000 in the next 6 months.  I will have a steadier and better supply.  I am not able to keep up with the demand at this time and wish to increase sales and revenue.
Lionhead rabbits are a new breed to the US and are quickly catching on and becoming the 'going thing' in pets and shows.  Most of the lionhead breeders are on the east coast therefore it gives me a lot of customers here in Oklahoma.  I have pet shops and feed stores that are wanting to buy my kits.  However, I ususally do not have any left over since individuals ususally buy all I have.  I am loosing money by not having enough bunnies to go around.
I need a loan for a  larger building/finish enclosed porch, more stock, cages, pay off credit cards so I can reduce that payment.
It will cost $1200 to pay off the credit cards, $3000 for new building or to enclose the porch, and the remaining amount for new stock and accessories.
Please see my profile page for more information on these rabbits.  And if you are interested in purchasing one feel free to contact me at 405-586-9147 or go to my website  grammyscritterranch.com
