Discussion For This Listing
Tue, May 29, 2007
Looks like this is a outright fraud. She failed to make the first payment.

Agreed, or plain identity theft. B rated going back to 1994 with 000's. Something is not right with this.

Indeed, this looks like a bald-faced rip-off. Does the law view a loan secured in bad faith any differently from any other defaulted loan? Does Prosper seek criminal penalties against fraudulent borrowers?

Has anyone contacted the GL? It appears that he "vetted" this listing according to his endorsement.
Fri, June 29, 2007
I sent a note to the GL, but no reply. He does discuss the loan a bit on Prosper's forum--sounds as though the lender immediately became unavailable once payment was due... phones disconnected, etc. It really looks like fraud from here--hard to believe somebody with such a credit rating and a $100,000 income would suddenly take the money and run--but Prosper evidently disagrees... I sent them a note, too. Very disappointing.

Is there an avenue for a group of lenders to challenge a loan for repurchase by Prosper? This loan request is filled with misrepresentation and fraud. I cannot accept disappointing as an appropriate answer in this case.

There is a thread asking Prosper to communicate about this loan on the Prosper community forums. Search for "florwilk" to find it.
Wed, August 15, 2007
Well...it was repurchased today by Prosper. Guess the complaints worked

This is fantastic. At least we did not have to pay the price for a fraud. May all your future loans be good ones.
