I am trying to secure a loan to impove my credit before I refinance the loan on an investment property. I paid all my bills and loans on time for the past 5 years. I have 2 credit cards that I had 6 years ago before I got divorced. My ex ran up some charges on them, trips, car repairs, and then left. I did not even know I had the cards. The mailing address for the cards was the house she was living in since I moved out. I found out about them after a collection agency finally tracked me down. Now I owe about $6500. I am going to use this loan to pay them off to try and repair my credit enough to refinance at a better rate.
