I am 44 and married with a beautiful wife and three young kids.  Three years ago some changes in the economy made it necessary for me to change careers.  I started in a new field and have invested long hours and about $33,000 in training and marketing support to build my new business.  I have had great success over the last two years in growing a client base and have expanded at a healthy pace through referrals from happy clients.  I have found what I think is the formula to steadily increasing flow of my business:  continuing my education, integrity and treating people with the respect and compassion they deserve.

In getting started in my new career, I made the initial investments mentioned above and paid those through a two high interest loans.  In the first half of 2006, I was on track to exceed the income goals that I had outlined in my annual Business Plan.  Because I was doing so well in the first six months of 2006, I decided to aggressively pay down the high interest debt.  Right after making these big payments my pipeline of business slowed down for about three months during the summer.  During these three months I fell behind on some of my personal bills and, even though the remaining months of 2006 were as good as the first six, I am still working to recover from the large payments I made mid-year.  I finished the year on target for my Business Plan, 33% higher than the previous year, but need about $20,000 to get caught up and back on track.

I learned a valuable lesson last year that I should have already known- even when times are good, a dip in business can always happen.   Please let me know if you have any questions that I can answer to help evaluate my situation.
